Ooh I Say...

From the 4.0.6 Patch Notes:

  • The Honor Commodities and Justice Commodities Vendors now sell raw tradeskill materials. These are not intended to be a cost-effective source of these materials, but an option for players with lots of Justice or Honor Points who have already purchased all of the gear that interests them.

I wonder... is this just orbs?

./waits for confirmation from PTR...

Normal Service...

... will be resumed after my daughter recovers from the bout of the flu she's currently off school with. In the meantime, here's a picture of a Dwarf on a new dragon, bought from those very nice Baradin Hold chaps. Enjoy!

OK it's not a great picture, but it'll do until some actual content appears...

Make Your Mind Up!

Confucius he say: “a promise easily made is hard to keep”.

I say: if you're going to reduce dps surely it's more logical to do it by a sensible percentage first and then in increments afterwards, as opposed to slicing a bloody great wodge of damage off to start with? What surprises me most is the reversion of the Serpent Spread thwack, unless of course it's being affected by this haste bug thingy. Needless to say, this is clearly a work in progress. However, looking at the 'enhancements' to Marks in the works, it might yet be that we reach the nirvana where I can have two distinct specs and use both of them depending on the situation I find myself in. That, I think, would be my ideal solution, and to a certain extent it's already happening with my Marks Spec giving a vital interrupt in the Ashbury fight in SFK Heroic.

Aside from the Giant Bat'o'DOOM issues, respect is due to my Guild for last night achieving Critter Kill Squad and subsequently crashing our server with their awesomeness. I look forward to achieving Exalted with my homies and picking up the Armadillo:

Oh No, Not Again :(

This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is my sadface :(

25% is pretty huge, across both of Survival's key shots. Bigger still however is the change to Serpent Spread, which currently allows me to pull 35k on certain Heroic trash packs. Yes I will miss it :( Even the change to Kill Shot will not compensate for this. Ho hum.

In good news however the nerfs across Heroic Content will make it less necessary for me to pull huge numbers in order to actually survive. All my favourite annoying fights have been been easified: Ashbury in SFK, Beauty in BRC, Setesh in HoO and Altarius in VP all see significant downgrades to their difficulty curve. As Wonder Pally remarked on hearing these changes: 'they're making it easier for the Bads to play' and although I have a measure of empathy with these comments what these changes will do is help groups who are coming to these instances for the first time. There are plenty of other challenging fights that aren't being touched, the ones that are appear to be notable for the sheer range of abilities a group has to deal with. The Ashbury fight for instance still has plenty of ways for the boss to heal himself if not prevented, removing another one will help those whose groups don't have a range of interrupts available.

When I come back to this in a year I wonder how just how much nostalgia we'll look back with on the original versions of these fights. Whilst considering this, you may wish to read this article by Ghostcrawler. Yes, he's telling you to learn to play. Make the most of it while you can.

In Other News, there are some welcome changes in the works:

  • Level 85 players can now choose any normal dungeon via the Dungeon Finder. Choosing Random Dungeon will still not add Blackrock Caverns or Throne of the Tides into the rotation.

This will at least make doing Guild groups in low level dungeons for Sneaky Guild Achieving a bit easier.

  • Many rare creatures that went into hiding upon Deathwing's emergence into Azeroth have made a return! In addition to finding new homes in a post-Cataclysm world, they drop new, improved loot, provide a healthy experience bonus, and respawn much more quickly when killed. Happy hunting!

This is a very welcome change: I love rare hunting but the loot from anything pre-Wrath is disappointing at best. I'm hoping improved loot means blue quality or perhaps things like my pirate hat... we will see.

  • The 500 to 510 skill-up range for Leatherworking has been improved.

Why is it always AFTER I do a horrible grind that I KNOW could be better do they always come along and fix it? *Sigh*...

What Do I Do Now?

I am in a quandary, dear readers.

Getting P raid-ready has taken it's toll. The effort it's taken to gear and prepare myself for next week's foray into 10 man has worn me down. I'm ready, but at a price.

It could just be January, being cold and grey and getting me down, I suppose. It could be a side-effect of the diet changes I've made in an attempt to get healthier. Whatever it is, I don't know what to do next. I'm logging the Lock for her Transmutes (along with the Druid) and to do the JC daily. I'm healing the occasional five man on the Priest to make sure I can work out what to do, but my grand plans for a three toon Expeditionary Force have pretty much gone out of the window. There is no enthusiasm for levelling, shown by the fact that my husband's got a second 85 ahead of me for the first time since Vanilla. Let's be honest, there's not much enthusiasm for anything.

The big difference between this time and previous times (and yes, I've had my funks with the game) is the fact I feel I ought to come out and say something. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing to do with the fab people I play with (and they're all still there, give or take): I can't help but thinking I'm missing something here. I've read a more-than-normal number of these kind of posts too, across all of the social networking sites I use. I know I'm not alone, there are others feeling the way I do. There's even a thread on MMO offering suggestions on how to deal with this issue. Suggestions include levelling an alt (^^) or taking a break, but with 10 man raiding starting next week I really don't think that's a viable option.

I don't know what it is, but it's there, and this time around I think talking about my WoW problem is the way to go. I need to find some enthusiasm for anything, and I hope that by sharing with you I can start that path back to Cataclysm contentment. Suggestions and encouragement are both readily accepted.
